Disaster management and evacuation plans

Disaster plans are important for managing potential disasters and demonstrates a commitment to safety within the community. Plans form the basis and guidelines for the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery activities for our region.

The need to evacuate people from their homes can result in very traumatic responses from the evacuees. It is therefore very important to ensure that welfare facilities or services are timely and meet the needs of the evacuees.

The Local Disaster Management Plan details the arrangements for the coordination and management of resources, to ensure and maintain safe communities within the region prior to, during and after a disaster.
