It’s time to celebrate new beginnings, new opportunities and help us bring the New Year in with a bang at Queens Park.

Everyone is invited to join the free family fun to farewell 2017 near Frog’s Hollow in lower Queens Park, off Margaret Street, Toowoomba on Sunday, December 31.

Toowoomba Regional Council Tourism and Events portfolio leader Cr Geoff McDonald said the early evening program on New Year’s Eve offered fun entertainment for families and people of all ages.

“Council will help you launch your New Year’s celebrations with a range of activities from 3.30-8pm in Queens Park,” Cr McDonald said.

“This year there will be a variety of entertainment including circus acts and thanks to Suncorp, we have a very special appearance from Batman in the Bat Mobile all the way from Gotham City.”

“The early evening timeslot is designed for families to enjoy a relaxing program.

“The function has grown in recent years and ends with a dazzling fireworks display sponsored by Orchy Toowoomba from 7.45pm.

“Enjoy free kids’ rides from 3.30pm followed by Family Fun at 5pm thanks to the support of ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation).

“Prizes will be awarded during the contests with entertainment and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

“Toowoomba City Cheerleaders will rev up the crowd and be involved in a conga line with other games on offer plus a DJ, to get those moves happening.

“See 2017 out in style with friends and family at an alcohol-free event.

“The timing lets families enjoy the entertainment program and offers adults the chance to attend functions after the community celebrations in the countdown to 2018.”

“If you are looking for a genuine bush dance to see in the New Year, you can brush off your ‘heel and toe polka’, polish your boots and head out to the Jondaryan Woolshed New Year’s Eve Bush Dance. “

“With a buffet, open bar, late night burger bar and live music from The Ridgee Didge Bush Band and Veetone playing through the night you can “strip the willow” till the early hours and roll out your swag and kick-start your 2018.”

“Festivities will kick off at 5.30pm.  Bookings are required, so make sure you call ahead.”
