In response to the Coronavirus emergency, the following temporary changes are being made to our services.

Libraries

From Monday 25 May, libraries will commence a staged reopening of branches. During this time customers will be provided with a reserve and collect service through the library's online catalogue or the MyTRLibrary App. Read more...

For any Council-related emergencies, call 131 872. This includes problems such as water main bursts, water leaks, traffic signals not working, dog attacks, serious environmental incidents, callouts from emergency services, trees on roads, dangerous potholes, sewer blockages/overflows and dead animals on a road causing safety hazard.

Local Disaster Management Group

We have moved our Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) to ‘Stand Up’ status. [Announced 25 March 2020]

Cemeteries

Visitation at our cemeteries and ceremonies remain unchanged except for the limitations of numbers and travel imposed by the Federal and State Governments.

Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery office will be available by phone and email enquiries only. Physical visits will not be available from 12noon Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice [Announced 23 March 2020]

 

Customer service, animal management centre, visitor information centres and community development officers

The Animal Management Centre will limit access to the public through the implementation of a temporary appointment system for animal releases. Appointments can be made by calling 131 872. [Announced 1 April 2020]

Tender submissions via our Customer Service Centres are currently unavailable. Please respond to tenders either by upload through VendorPanel or by mail via Australia Post until further notice. If sending via mail, please ensure that responses are mailed in a timely manner. [Announced 31 March 2020]

Customer Service Centres are handling most customer enquiries by phone, email and other online channels. Toowoomba, Crows Nest and Millmerran service centres are open for face-to-face counter visitors by appointment from 1-4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for selected services that cannot be conducted by phone or online. All other centres are not accepting face-to-face counter business until further notice. Customer Service Centres will not accept cash payments - only EFTPOS, credit card or debit cards. Road network

Pedestrian crossings in the Toowoomba CBD will become automated between 6 am and 6 pm. Crossings in the area bound by Clifford, Herries, Neil and Russell Streets and the signals on Anzac Avenue at Clifford Gardens will be automated. [Announced 1 April 2020]

 

Parks, gardens and camping

Waste facilities

The wheelie bin collection service is operating unchanged. Please remember that truck routes may change at any time without notice. On your collection day your bin can be emptied at anytime between 6am and 6pm.  If you live in the Toowoomba CBD, it can be from 5am. To make sure you don’t miss the trucks, put your bins out before 6am of the collection day (5am in the CBD. Please maintain your social distance from our drivers.

Our many waste management facilities are operating unchanged with the following exceptions:

  • Customers using waste management facilities may experience delays entering some facilities, particularly at peak times, as we maintain appropriate social distancing. [Announced 2 April 2020]

Water testing services

Laboratory services testing has temporarily stopped for unscheduled customers. Testing will continue for routine external customers. Other critical/urgent testing may be possible by appointment [Announced 27 March 2020]
